Would purple eyeshadow go with a blue prom dress?

someone told me i should wear purple to compliment my royal blue dress...i never really thought they went to together that well...any thoughts?





ps....i have dark slighty auburn red hair, brown eyes, pale skin

No no no no no no no. You should never match your make-up to your clothes!!! When you do your makeup, think of the color wheel going back to art class.





You should have it professionally done at a make-up counter, Mac or Lancome? It's not that expensive considering you will be looking back on those pictures for many years to come.





If you must do your own make-up, go with smokey golds, orange (yes orange to compliment the blue), or dark charcoal eyes with light lips.





Purple does look great on brown eyes normally and maybe a good makeup artist could make it work for you but to be safe,

purple and blue....its a bit too monochromatic. if you want something 2 compliment, get a color in a different color family.


i think a light yellow, golden (but not glittery) eyeshadow with lined eyes and lots of mascara would look fab.

Reply:I would wear a pealescent powder blue color, the same as your dress. That will realy make your eyes pop! It is evening and you can sparkle!

Reply:sure, especially if you wear blue eyeliner with it, or fade the blue into the purple.





however, you could do better. try a glimmering but subtle look, such as gold or silver glittering eyeliner.

Reply:i would not put eyeshadow on a dress. less make-up is better
Reply:Stick within your dress color. A pearlescent dark blue in the crease with a champagne color on the lids would be just enough to accent your dress. Try Mac's Flashtrack eye shadow for the crease, Electra for highlighting the brow bone, and blend Fade from the lid to the crease. HAVE FUN AT PROM!

Reply:I think it would kinda clash but totally depends on the colors. I deffinately wouldn't wear just purple eyeshadow (but i never wear less than three colors of eyeshadow at a time.) If i were you and you really wanted to do the purple I would probably do like a white or silver sparkley sumthing on the lid, right under the brow, and a lil under the eye (gets rid of bags), then i would put a lil bit of a deep purple under the white under the brow on the outside of your eyes. Then take like a light blue to kinda fill in and blend.





Good luck understanding that. Sorry it is hard to explain in words. If u think its a good idea try it b4 and make sure u like it. Wouldn't want to cause a pre-prom freakout.
Reply:maybe you should go with dark brown or black-brown mascara. in my opinion, coloured mascara it kinda stupid. you could put on some blue eyeliner (with black of course)

Reply:i personally wouldn't. i wouldn't do anything different with your makeup for prom, b/c you don't wanna try something new, and it doesnt turn out right... i'd go with what makes you look most beatiful.. and if you don't usually wear makeup, experiement! or ask for a friend for help!
Reply:DON'T!!! purple does not go with blue. Do a Smokey eye and go 2 a tanning bed before u go and u will look soooooo great.
