Should prince harry be deployed with his unit if he wants to despite the royal families wishes.?

Prince harry has joined the britsh army and his unit is to be deployed to iraq in 2007, should he be placed in combat situations like any other officer like prince andrew was in the falklands? and does his presence create danger for his unit (the blues and royals).

Should prince harry be deployed with his unit if he wants to despite the royal families wishes.?
Yeap. and to give him credit, that's exactly what he is requesting. The only problems I could see for his unit would be the media circus that inevitably accompnaies Diana's children. There is also the possibility of some bad guys taking the opportunity to attempt a kidnapping or other naughty act of desperation, so in that context, I think he should be allowed to deploy, BUT all efforts should be made to keep him safer than the average Officer.
Reply:If he signed up fully well knowing that was a possibility then Im sure he would be committed to the cause. I dont think that being a 'prince' should make his life any more valuable than other peoples sons, brothers, husbands etc who dont have a choice in the matter.

Reply:Tough question.

On one hand we must commend his courage and his determination to face the same risks as everybody else.

On the other hand - he will become a 'bullet magnet.' The enemy will go out of their way to target him and his unit in order to grab a newspaper headline.

Sometimes there is no totally 'right' answer.
Reply:Yes.
Reply:He said he doesn't want any extra attention or help because he's royalty he said he wants to go and serve with his unit and i respect that.
Reply:what sort of example of leadership is it, if he just gets posted to safe areas instead of leading his men like he was trained to do at sandhurst in any situation.
