Why do royals named blue-blooded?

Blue blood

Meaning

The blood that which flows in the veins of old and aristocratic families.

Origin

A literal translation of the Spanish 'sangre azul', attributed to some of the oldest and proudest families of Castile, who claimed never to have intermarried with Moors, Jews, or other races. The expression probably originated in the blueness of the veins of people of fair complexion as compared with those of dark skin.

That was certainly the understanding in the 19th century, and there seems little reason to doubt it. In 1834 Maria Edgeworth published 'Helen', which reiterates that opinion:

"[Someone] from Spain, of high rank and birth, of the sangre azul, the blue blood."

Why do royals named blue-blooded?

Blue blood is an English expression for noble birth or descent; it may be a translation of "sangre azul", a Spanish phrase used to differentiate the lighter skinned nobility from their darker skinned Moorish counterparts, or probably, especially in more northern countries, simply distinguished the wealthy noble sheltered by elaborate costume and dwellings from the working (mainly farmer) class who were tanned from working in the sun. The Dutch translation is blauw bloed, in Polish it's błękitna krew, in Swedish blått blod , in German blaues Blut. and in Portuguese sangue azul.
Reply:blue-blooded means that you have light skin. back in the days, if you had dark skin, it meant that your occupation is outdoors or you work for someone. if you have lighter skin, then you are mostly indoors, which meant that you were a noble. i think that your skin color basically put you in a higher class or lower class. if you were a noble %26amp; you have light skin, you can see the veins on your arms. people used to think that blood was blue because the veins are. so blue-blood basically means that you are royal/noble because you are light skinned and people can see your veins.
Reply:because they want to separate them selves from the common people who r red blooded!
