Why are royals called blue-blooded?

The Royals are called BLUE BLOODED because -

because they spent little or no time outdoors back in the middle ages, and thus where very very pale compared to the tanned and weathered peons.





Thusly, their veins showed in high contrast to their skin, and as veins appear blue, it was belived that their blood was indeed blue.

Reply:In olden times, people that worked were usually more tanned and veins did not show as prominent; Royals were usually less tanned and more pale and had more prominent "blue veins" that showed more through pale skin.
Reply:You know how when you look at your hand, you might see a 'blue' vein? That's what it meant. Back when peasants worked in the fields they got a lot of sun and were quite tanned, while the nobles sat inside with their pale skin, and it's easier to see the veins with pale skin.


So being blue-blodded is a sign of nobility.
