How do you paint a dark blue over white and make it look perfect?

I started painting my room a dark royal blue. I painted over white primer. Unfortunately, the paint job looks horrible. You can kind of see the white through the blue paint. It's like some parts are lighter than others. I am thinking of giving it a second coat, but I'm not sure yet. Will this affect the color? I want the color to still look the same.

you should paint grey primer under dark colors. do another coat... it may even need a third. it will make the blue deeper and full. it will then truly be the color you chose. if you are using a shiny paint, give it a quick light sand (a fine sanding sponge) and it will cover better.

Reply:Try giving it 2 coats of paint.

It will look ok when it drys out.
Reply:most places now will tint your primer. so, a gray primer is usually great, but if you can get a primer closer to the blue you are using - but not exact - your top coat color will be sooo much richer.
Reply:any time you paint a dark color you should prime with a green primer
