There are the metal colors of "or" (gold) and "argent" (silver), plus:





Then the primary colors of Azure (blue), gules (red), purpure (purple), sable (black) and vert (green).





Then the secondary or "stanyard" colors of Murrey (mulberry - kind of a pinkish-purple), tenne' (an orangy-brown) and sanguine (blood red).





Then the last set of colors which are celeste (sky blue), carnation (pale or rose pink), cendree (steel grey) and orange.





These colors are known in heraldry as "tinctures".
